My Prayers To God

"Lord, I don't know what lay before me today, but I commit it all to You. Please give me strength and courage to get through the joys, challenges and happenings of the day. I thank You for my life and for all that I have; I commit this day to You. No matter what happens, I know You have me in the palm of Your hand."

I would like to talk to you about the importance of having a regular prayer life. There is only one God, but there are several ways to reach him like many rivers that flow into the vast ocean.

Most of us practise a belief system but pray to the same God. What is the purpose of God with many religions in the world? I would say that religion is the creation of man and not God.

But the crux of all major religions is the same namely; the love of God and the love of your neighbour. In other words, religion teaches us to always forgive others, love, and be merciful to others. And help the poor and needy people living in society.

Let me speak to you about your prayer life. The saying goes, "Rome was not built in a day." It takes patience and perseverance to perfect the art of a prayer life.

There may be many problems and difficulties you will have to undergo during your life journey. Don't worry about the future but always live in the present tense.

We become good human beings with time. Our prayer life is a slow process like a tortoise moving to the freedom of the ocean.

God may allow you to feel spiritual dryness when you don't feel like praying for days together or even a few weeks. But don't worry about the ups and downs in your prayer life.

Our prayers to God must not be a begging exercise. We have every right to ask God with freedom and faith for blessings in our lives like sons and daughters of our Father. But don't be adamant about quickly receiving blessings from the almighty.

It is always good to have a good spiritual director or a guide to show you the right way in your prayer life.

There might be misunderstandings with your family members, relatives, friends or any member of society. Don't feel bad when these things happen in your life.

Always remember that God is teaching you to depend on Him rather than human beings.

Hence persistently, pray to the almighty. We must patiently wait to receive answers to our prayers, in the time and manner as decided by God.

Let me conclude by saying that the best form of prayer is leading a virtuous life in this world.
